To begin with, I used to have a negative view of AI development in the future, but it shifted after I saw this movie. When I was young, I watched movies like Terminator and Surrogates, which both showed how technology could control or even destroy human life. In Terminator, AI like SKYNET kills all humans and causes the end of humanity, and in Surrogates, people completely depend on artificial bodies, losing their real emotions and lives. Because of those movies, I believed that the development of AI would only lead us to destruction and isolation.
After watching The Creator, the line “We were made for humans, we can’t hurt mankind.” completely changed my perspective on AI. In this movie, humans were like Skynet, and AI was more like Kyle Connor and Sarah Connor.
In conclusion, this film helped me think more deeply about how artificial intelligence could positively affect people. I will try to see AI not just as a tool for research or human assistance they could become something more in the future. Especially related to my theme, I used to think AI would be the ultimate authority in the future. That’s why I made the triptych about decision making whether we should stay safe in a society controlled by AI, or take the risk of living a truly human life. But now, it’s time to shift my perspective further and think about how AI could interact with people in 2056 Scarborough through Play.
