T3_Week 2: Workshop 01_The Archipelago Protocol
ARCHM_T3
8 October 2026
Leeds Beckett University
This week's studio focused on site research concerning the Humber Estuary. Group 1’s geological analysis of the high-elevation dry lands and future topographical shifts was particularly insightful.
Based on a projected six-meter sea-level rise, our studio established a scenario where central Hull is submerged and heavily polluted by saltwater. This inundation divides the region: the western edge becomes the industrial 'New Hull,' relocating maritime operations to Hessle and demolish the Humber Bridge, while the eastern remnant becomes the geographically isolated 'Yorkshire Peninsula.'
I considered that the Yorkshire Peninsula will become a critical reservoir for uncontaminated water and offshore wind energy. Driven by extreme drought and temperatures exceeding 38°C, the local ecology and agriculture will fundamentally shift, potentially introducing new resilient crops.
