CT4 & T3_Week 1: Overall induction & Studio choice

ARCHM_CT4 & T3

02 October 2026

Leeds Beckett University

After completing the MARCP course in September, I chose to continue my academic progression at Leeds Beckett University by enrolling in the Master of Architecture (Advanced) (ARCHM) course.

The academic term began with an orientation during induction week, followed by the start of the core module in Week 1. This semester, Context Theory 4 (CT4) and Theis 3 (T3) operate as an integrated module. CT4 serves as the theoretical foundation for the semester 1 dissertation, while T3 is the primary design studio module. Building on the strong academic engagement and design and research process I cultivated in Hyun Jun Park’s unitifiteen during the previous academic year, I chose this studio and was successfully allocated to it once again.

Preceding the studio allocation, we had an introductory lecture for the CT4 delivered by Marko. The first slide of the lecture was the question “WhichFuture?” and the themes were Anthropocene, Extraction, and Biodiversity.

This year’s studio brief, titled Lost Yorkshire II: The Last Reservoir Between the Drowned and the Drought, directly aligns with my research interests regarding the architectural implications of future extreme climate conditions. The synergy between my independent interest and the unitfifteen brief provides a strong common framework for my thesis development. Furthermore, as a methodological starting point from the previous year, the studio work begins with collaborative, group-based site analysis focusing on the geographic and ecological complexities of the Humber Estuary.
